Gaza’s uprising

a ghetto’s last gasp towards

freedom, like Warsaw’s

dystopia

the world in free fall

i try to find the handbrake

to stop the heart ache

vicious circle

war does not beget

peace, but dark monstrosities

grief, trauma and hate

which engender sinister

poisons and seeds for the next

asymmetric warfare

from the safety of my place

i assign labels: ‘splinter’ goes to

rock, ‘beam’ to 12000 bombs

post truth

apocalypse is

to sink into lawlessness

torn, war(ped) and twisted

polemics

screaming excuses

hurtling blame shame smear weapons

justifications

lies unleash cacophony

the inevitable hits

hope

as i clean my bathroom floor

i wish my brush is scrubbing out all

pain and stain of endless war

that from the rubble may arise no

hatred, from the ruin only calm

from the river to the sea

may the gods of wrath

on their patriarchal thrones

be deposed, undone
