We are Jews living on sovereign First Nations land in the country now known as Australia. We reject Zionist claims on our identity; refute its misrepresentation and exploitation of our history; and resist its appropriation of our spiritual, cultural, and political heritage.
We seek a just peace for all people living between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, and advocate for the establishment of a political entity based on equality, plurality, and democracy for all people living within its borders.
Our core positions include that :
- Historic Palestine is now the home of both Palestinians and those Jewish Israelis willing to actively implement complete decolonisation, including the unconditional right of return of Palestinian refugees, the return of homes and property to their rightful owners, and the dismantling of all systems of racialised discrimination and oppression.
- Political Zionism is a racist ideology based on 19th century European ethnonationalism. It racialises and marginalises Jews, and furthers the antisemitic belief that Jews do not belong among other peoples of the world.
- Israel is a settler colonial project that was established by and is maintained by global powers for their own interests. Its Jewish Zionist founders declared their intention to use force to dispossess and expel the indigenous inhabitants, and to expand when their military power enabled them to.
- The Zionist project has always sought to encompass all of historic Palestine and beyond, and Israel has always resisted a negotiated settlement with Palestinians.
- Israel is an apartheid state that maintains Jewish supremacy through the violation of others' human, civil, and national rights, and depends for its existence on state terror.
- The right of the Palestinians to resist their colonisation, occupation, siege, and oppression is enshrined in international law. This encompasses the nonviolent The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against the the Israeli state and other entities which support and benefit from the dispossession of Palestinians. It also encompasses armed resistance to unlawful occupation and oppression.
Our activism is grounded in the universal principles of freedom, equality, and justice. As part of a broad coalition of progressive groups in Australia and abroad, we work for Palestinian human and national rights. We publicly challenge the misrepresentation of issues relating to Palestine and Israel; actively engage in nonviolent action to delegitimise the Zionist narrative and thereby dismantle Australian support for Israel; and work to reassert Jewish identity in principled opposition to Zionism.
